In the passage, what was the problem of compromise the Israelites faced while rebuilding the temple (vv. 1–3)? What do you think are the most common “small compromises” in the Christian life today? How can those small compromises gradually draw us away from God?

The phrase “weakened the hands of the people of Judah” (v. 4, KJV) vividly describes discouragement. Have you ever grown weary while doing good? Why is it often difficult to pray when you feel discouraged? What practical steps can help you keep praying in those times?

The rebuilding of the temple was halted for about 16 years (v. 24). Have you experienced a season of prolonged hardship or delay? Is there anything happening now that makes you feel like giving up? How can we encourage one another to keep running the race of faith? What’s one thing our oikos or church could do together to grow an “unstoppable faith”?
