[two_thirds]
Catherine was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, IL. At an early age, Catherine developed a passion for teaching. In high school, she was nominated as a Golden Apple Scholar of Illinois and learned from award winning educators about the importance of positively impacting the lives of disadvantaged children and their families.

With a strong conviction for working with inner city youngsters, Catherine started her career as a third grade teacher in a struggling school in Chicago. There, she developed a heart for disadvantaged children in impoverished countries. She left to attend Harvard University. She graduated with a degree in International Education Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Upon graduation, Catherine worked on developing education programs for child soldiers with Save the Children, UNICEF, and INEE. Knowing that she belonged in the classroom, she returned to teaching. As of now, Catherine has taught for about 9-10 years in grades ranging from Kindergarten to 6th grade.

Currently, she is working as an Advanced Academics Specialist with FCPS.

2. When is the summer school? How long is it?
Our summer school is a 4 week program that begins on Monday, July 14 and ends on August 8. Classes are held 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM. We will hold an optional morning seminar at 8:30 AM if you need to drop your child to summer school earlier. In addition, we have embedded a 30 min cushion at the end of the day to accommodate our working parents.

4. Why only 3rd-6th grades? Why is enrollment limited to 170 students?
Since this is our first year, we wanted to start out small and make sure we have a strong program. We are looking forward to growing our program and adding on more grades in the coming years.
